Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Christ is Risen!  He is Risen Indeed, Hallelujah!

These are great words of joy as they are the foundation of the Christian Church.  St. Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 15:14 “And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain.”  The foundation of Blessed Savior is grounded in the resurrected Christ and strengthened by the work done by those who attended the strategic planning meetings.  Through these meetings a vision statement has been developed and specific goals related to that vision have been set in place.  I envision many great and exciting events and ministries will take place here at Blessed Savior.

Some of the events that will take place this month included the moving of the Christian Resource Center and the installation of our new Welcome Center.  These changes will provide a central location for information on all church activities and will help to unclutter the Narthex area.  We are also hoping that moving the Christian Resource Center into the fellowship hall will help to make it more visible and accessible to all the families.  A second event that I am looking forward to is the beginning of “Fellowship Fridays”.  The first one will take place on Friday April 25th.  This is simply a time to get together for a meal, fellowship and fun.  The play ground will be open for the younger children, the field will be available for sporting activities, and a campfire will be provided for warmth (if needed) and marshmallow treats.  I invite those of all ages to come for an evening of Christian fellowship and fun.

Other events happening this month include the Crossfires (Junior Youth) will have a lock-in event the first weekend of April.  They will take time to study the Office of the Keys from Luther’s Small Catechism along with fun activities and meals. MOBS will have an over night retreat on April 11th and 12th (see John Martin for info.).  MOBS is open to all men of the congregation who are over the age of 18.  They meet on the second Monday of ever month for a meal (yummy), a short business meeting, and then a presentation given by one of the members.  These presentations are very interesting and informative.

Some upcoming events include an anniversary celebration on the weekend of July 19th and 20th.  This will include the “Lift High the Cross” hot air balloon on Saturday and a special service on Sunday afternoon and a catered dinner afterward.  We are also planning a Bible study time for Wednesday evenings but details of who, what, and when have not been determined.

There are so many exciting events taking place here at Blessed Savior, I invite all of you to come and join in the fun, fellowship and Word.  (I almost forgot, it’s baseball season again and Helping Hand can use all of our help at the ballpark.  Please see Linda Kane for training dates.)

God Bless,

Vicar Schultz
