Dear Family of God at Blessed Savior, I pray, as always, that this newsletter finds you safe, healthy, faithful, and thankful -- and especially, BLESSED BY THE LORD.
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
Luke 2:29-32 "Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. [30] For my eyes have seen your salvation, [31] which you have prepared in the sight of all people, [32] a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
“They’re Here! They’re Here!” The excited words of a young child as his or her Grandparents arrive finally on their visit. They are words of joy, excitement, relief. They are words similar to the words of John the Baptist and of Simeon. John the Baptist said “Behold the Lamb of God!” And Simeon, holding the infant Jesus prays and says that God can call him home now that he has seen the Savior. The people of God waited so long to see the savior. We sing these same words when we get to approach the altar of the Lord and come into real contact with our savior. And yet, do we have the same excitement? Most often we don’t. We become so accustomed to the traditions and doing the same thing week after week, that we forget what this whole thing is all about. This is the Divine Service, in which we receive the gifts of God. And He doesn’t just send them in the mail as some family members and friends need to do. He comes and personally delivers them. He comes and gives us life, and strengthens our faith, and prepares us for when He will come again to take us to be with Him in Heaven. He’s Here! He’s Here!
In Service of Christ, Pastor Roeglin
