Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

In last month’s article I shared with you some of my plans for change here at Blessed Savior.  I would like to update you on the progress of these changes.

· My Bible study on Sunday mornings has met twice and the number of attendees is encouraging.  This study looks at the appointed readings for the next Sunday.  The study is not yet being offered on a weeknight because no one has requested it.  If a weeknight Bible study works better for you, please call me at the church so we can arrange a day and time.

· My plans for improving the way that this church is perceived by visitors have been approved by the appropriate boards.  Some of the plans are already in action.  I had over fifty people sign up for name badges on the first weekend which was very encouraging.  The purpose of the name badges is so visitors will be more comfortable with those around them in the sanctuary.  It is easier to talk to a stranger when you know their name.  Sign up sheets for name badges will continue to be in the back of the Narthex.

· Two new brochures are being developed for the church.  One is a trifold brochure in color which will be made available to visitors of the church.  The second is a single sided sheet in black and white to be used for outreach purposes in the neighborhood.  These will both be available sometime this month.

· Another part of my project is to develop a welcome center for the entry way of the church.  This one area will house all of the visitor information and will take the place of tables in the back of the narthex.  It will also be an information center where people will be able to see the activities available and will house all sign up sheets.

·The last large item of my project will be to enhance the nursery so that it can be used during the services as a cry room.  It will include a closed circuit TV so parents can take their children to the room without missing parts of the service.  Steps will be taken to make the room more sound proof.

I am excited about these changes as they will make the church more visitor friendly.  As we contemplate the work of Jesus (who was the visitor from heaven) during this Lenten Season, I challenge each and every one of you to bring one visitor to church on Easter Sunday.  Wouldn’t it be great to be able to share the joy of the Risen Savior with a family member, friend, or neighbor who doesn’t yet know of this joy and share with them the hope that we have in Christ Jesus?

God Bless,

Vicar Schultz
