Dear Family of God at Blessed Savior,
I pray, as always, that this newsletter finds you safe, healthy, faithful, and
thankful -- and especially, BLESSED BY THE LORD.
It’s the Year of Our Lord, two-thousand Eight. This Month, Blessed Savior
Lutheran Church, will have been in existence for 26 years!
I have been your Pastor for almost 2 years now and many things have happened in
those 2 years. Some things are easier to look at as Blessings than others. But
everything is an opportunity to praise and thank our God.
We can never forget that we are blessed. We are blessed with a wonderful
building. We have a been blessed tremendously through the Vicarage program. We
are blessed with the opportunity to extend the ministry of Christ through our
VBS and Sunday School. We have many people who are willing to volunteer. And we
have the Lord working in and through us daily.
It’s probably time that we need to start asking ourselves some questions again.
Where are we going? How should we look in 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? How are
we going to get there?
We get the answers to these questions by seeking the Lord’s guidance and
allowing Him to lead us rather than asking Him to bless what WE want to do. Many
of us are beginning to look at these questions and we need your help doing the
same. Please join us in our Strategic Planning meetings. We have developed a
Mission Statement and are refining a Vision Statement. You will see the finished
products very soon.
If you were to ask, “What can I do now?” the best answer I can give you sounds
very Lutheran: “Word and Sacrament.” Our Lord reminds us in His word, “Remain in
Me, and I will remain in you.” That includes regular church attendance, BIBLE
STUDY, and realizing that we are not Blessed to keep all our blessings to
ourselves. We are Blessed to be a Blessing to others. And that includes sharing
the Love of Jesus with all those around us.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in Him, he
will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
In Service of Christ,
Pastor Roeglin
